Amy has spent much of the last decade working on climate issues. Climate preparedness and resiliency are key components of the work she does leading Climate Smart Missoula, and helping people stay healthy during wildfire smoke season.
KERRI MUELLER
AIR QUALITY SPECIALIST, MISSOULA PUBLIC HEALTH
Kerri began working on Wildfire Smoke in 2023 and rapidly became an expert in understanding and communicating the health risks, Purple Air sensors and in helping everyone reduce exposure. We're lucky to have her!
Sarah COEFIELD
AIR QUALITY SPECIALIST, Office of research and development, epa
Sarah lead the Air Quality Program at Missoula Public Health from 2010-2023, focusing on outdoor burning, wildfires, and wildfire smoke. Sarah collaborated with Climate Smart Missoula during the 2017 fire season to get filters to schools, has contributed to the creation of this website, and continues to lend her expertise via her work with the EPA.

A TRULY Collaborative effort
Much of this work and website development was done by Sarah Luth who left us in 2019 for the Peace Corps!
We're thankful for the support of our many Wildfire Smoke and Summer Smart supporters who have contributed funding or other support. In addition to the Montana Community Foundation's Wildfire Relief Fund who helped fund the creation of this website in 2018, numerous individuals and businesses have helped. This includes: United Way of Missoula County, The Missoula Community Foundation, Providence St. Patrick Hospital, Community Medical Center, The City of Missoula, Missoula County, NorthWestern Energy, the Llewellyn Foundation, High Stakes Foundation, and numerous generous individuals.
Climate Smart Missoula acts as a hub to ensure that our community is planning and acting on climate change, and we look for opportunities to share our approach with others around Montana. This site was established as a part of our Summer Smart Initiative, with the goal to provide accurate and easy-to-access information on wildfires, smoke, and health to all Montana communities affected by fire.
